Score 90/100 · Drink 2002-2005, Robert Parker, Aug 2002
The 2000 Zinfandel Black Chicken (825 cases that tip the scales at 15.9% alcohol) is a powerful offering. This intense, full-bodied effort does not possess any of the late harvest characteristics normally found in a wine with nearly 16% alcohol. It reveals loads of plum and black cherry liqueur-like fruit intermixed with underbrush, pepper, and a subtle touch of wood. The wine is full-bodied, with an unctuous texture, copious glycerin, and a heady, lush, hedonistic finish. This full throttle Zinfandel will drink well for 2-3 years. Tel. (707) 257-7555
