Score 90-92/100 · Drink 2017-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2014

The 2013 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru les Boudots is aged in 40% new oak and the remainder one-year old, has plenty of candied red berry fruit on the nose, interlaced with orange zest and even a small dab of marmalade. This is extrovert for the vineyard. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, well-judged acidity and good density. It is more introverted on the palate than on the nose, closing in as if it expressed far too much already! This is a very fine Boudots.

Dark crimson and intense fruit but not quite enough lift. Seems a bit too concentrated for its own good. No great persistence. (JR)
