From thinner, rockier soils that struggled in 2020, the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Verdad is nevertheless a rich, full-bodied, concentrated 2020 offering solid black fruits, ample minerality, savory herb nuances, fine tannins, and a more focused, elegant mouthfeel. This site always yields a more elegant, finesse-driven wine than Dr. Crane, which is right next door, and you certainly see that character here.

The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Verdad is searingly tannic and alcoholic. Vines in this part of the ranch struggle mightily, even in the best of years. In 2020 the challenges of the year were just too much to overcome. The Verdad is a hard wine to taste today.
