Score 90/100 · Drink 2004, Robert Parker, Oct 2003
Tightly-knit, the dense ruby/plum/purple-colored 2001 Pinot Noir Carrie’s reveals sweet, concentrated, pure flavors of blue, red and black fruits, minerals, earth, and subtle wood. There is a lot in this wine, but most of it is only noticeable at the back of the palate as the wine is completely shut down on the attack. This is a pure but tight beauty in need of 1-2 years of bottle age. What is especially impressive about all the Melville offerings is their purity and singular personalities. Virtually everyone I talked to in Santa Barbara applauds the meticulous craftsmanship and viticultural skills of proprietor Chad Melville. His talent is obvious in these outstanding efforts. Tel.
