Score 90/100 · Robert Parker, Dec 2005

There is a third selection called the Casa Dalla Valle. The 2002 is an outstanding wine, obviously meant for near-term drinking (in this case, over the next decade). It shows a deep ruby/purple color, nice, sweet creme de cassis fruit, a straightforward character, but outstanding richness, depth, and length. Tel. (707) 944-2676; Fax (707) 944-8411

(from young-vines cabernet sauvignon and other declassified juice; 100% cabernet sauvignon) Good medium ruby-red. Black raspberry and mocha on the nose, with a faintly medicinal aspect. Supple and fat on entry, with purple fruit and gamey notes, then distinctly drier and greener on the back end. Finishes with dusty tannins and a suggestion of leafiness, without the normal ripeness of this vintage.
