Bright red. An intensely perfumed bouquet evokes red fruit preserves, Asian spices and woodsmoke, with a sexy note of rose pastille in the background. Juicy and expansive on the palate, with very good depth to its sappy black raspberry and cherry flavors. The rose note gains strength with air and lingers on the long, spicy, clean finish.

The 2009 Pinot Noir Zotovich emerges from one of the warmer sites the winery works with. Sweet candied fruit, flowers and crushed berries are some of the nuances that flow in this perfumed, intriguing wine. Sweet roses and herbs appear later, adding further dimensions of nuance. There is something eccentric to the Zotovich that is incredibly appealing.

No one has done more to carry the banner for the Santa Rita Hills than Greg Brewer and Steve Clifton. Both together at Brewer-Clifton and separately in their other projects, Brewer and Clifton consistently deliver delicious wines that are also deeply thought provoking with regards to the potential these vineyard sites hold. The Pinots in particular are compelling. The 2009 Pinots saw a seven day cold soak and fermentations that lasted a total of 35-40 days, with 100% stems. Tel.
