Score 88/100 · Drink 2000-2015, Robert Parker, Dec 1998

More structured, tannic, and dense than the 1995, the 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon requires patience. Most readers will prefer to drink the 1995 or 1997 than the more backward 1996. The 1996 reveals a saturated ruby/purple color, low acidity, and plenty of tannin and muscle in the brawny finish. It had just been bottled when I tasted it and although it matched the 1995 in intensity, it seemed muted and closed. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2015. Tel. (707) 963-2745; Fax (707) 963-4831

Very good deep red color. Spicy cassis, blueberry and chocolate aromas. Blue fruit and spice flavors in the mouth; this wine accessible texture will give it early drinkability. Finishes with moderate tannins and a hint of bacony oak.
