Tasting notes
The limited production (140 cases) cuvee of 2000 Pinot Noir Precious Mountain exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as a sweet perfume of raspberries, cherries, and acacia flowers. It is rich and dense, with good acidity, cleanliness, and subtle wood. It should be cellared for 2-3 years. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2012. Tel. (707) 433-6425; Fax (707) 433-6546

Bright full ruby. Black raspberry, licorice and a cool minty nuance on the nose. Ripe and concentrated, with flavors of strawberry jam and spicy oak. But less pliant and harder-edged than most of this winery's other 2000 pinots, and not at the same quality level as the '99 Precious Mountain release. Turns a bit tough and dry on the finish.
About the producer
Williams Selyem is an iconic Russian River Valley winery best known for its Pinot Noir. Producing restrained yet classically Californian expressions of the heartbreak grape (as well as a host of other wines), the property has gone from pioneer to one of the region’s standard-bearers.
