2016 Domaine Frédéric Esmonin Gevrey-Chambertin

Bright, moderately saturated medium red. Coolish, slightly medicinal aromas of dark cherry, dark berries, licorice and herbs. Not a fleshy wine but fresh and nicely delineated, offering good juicy, floral lift to its dark fruit and herb flavors. Turns a bit leaner with air, finishing with firm, dusty tannins and decent length. I prefer this wine's fruit and balance to the 2015 offering but there's only modest material and sweetness here.
