Tasting notes
(100% whole clusters): Vivid purple. Sexy, intensely perfumed aromas of black raspberry, candied cherry and violet, with zesty allspice, cola and olive nuances building with air: this covers pretty much all the syrah food groups. Sweet and sappy in the mouth, offering a seamless texture to the vibrant dark berry compote and floral pastille flavors. Shows excellent energy and focus on the very long, bright, mineral-dominated finish.

The 2010 Syrah Clary Ranch, from one of the coldest sites in California, emerges from the glass with white pepper, savory herbs, tapenade, black cherries and plums. There is marvelous intensity that shows most in the wine's overall polish and length. This parcel was picked on November 23rd, exceedingly late by any standard. The wine was vinified with 100% whole clusters and aged in. This is a great showing!

Arnot-Roberts is one of the most exciting young wineries in California, or anywhere for that matter. Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts have put together a compelling set of wines that highlight the personalities of some of the cooler-climate sites in Northern California. Most of the wines are made with a high percentage of whole clusters. Vinification takes place with native yeasts and bacteria, and the wines are bottled without fining or filtration. The latest addition to the lineup is a Cabernet Sauvignon from Fellom Ranch, a vineyard on the Montebello Ridge in the Santa Cruz mountains not too far from the parcels from which Ridge crafts their iconic Montebello.
