Tasting notes
(70% cabernet sauvignon and 30% syrah; 15% alcohol): Inky ruby. Powerful, smoke-tinged aromas of cherry-cola, cassis and fruitcake. Sweet, spicy and expansive, offering powerful black and blue fruit flavors and a hint of allspice. Nicely concentrated and supple, with strong back-end power and smooth, harmonious tannins adding shape.

A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Syrah, the 2010 Treana Red is a sweetly fruited effort that has solid aromatics of sweet blackberry, toast, vanilla and roasted meats. The toast, vanilla and oak aspects start to dominate with air, yet it has a core of sweet fruit, solid overall texture and a good finish. Big, upfront and a straightforward effort, it should be consumed over the coming handful of years. Drink now-2016. While a good lineup of wines, I was slightly less impressed than normal with this set of releases. The wines came across as relatively straightforward and with heavy-handed oak in the reds.
