Score 89/100 · Drink 2018-2025, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2018
The 2015 Mountain Cuvée is Chappellet's entry-level red. Sweet red cherry and plum fruit are nicely pushed forward in this succulent, super-inviting wine. Soft, silky tannins add to the wine's considerable near and medium-term appeal. There is so much to like. The blend is 37% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Malbec, 11% Petit Verdot and 7% Cabernet Franc, with the Merlot and Malbec very much front and center.
