Tasting notes
Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from higher elevation estate vines, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Hideaway Vineyard offers classic mountain notes of blue fruits, scrub brush, violets, and earthy, sappy herb-like aromas and flavors. It's medium to full-bodied, has terrific purity, good tannins, and just a balanced, lively, elegant style. I suspect it will put on weight and richness with time in bottle and should keep for 15 to 20 years.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Hideaway shows all the energy and tension of these hillside vineyards above Lake Hennessey. Crushed rocks, sage, mint, lavender and spice lead into a core of red and purplish berry fruit. This is an especially taut, nervous Cabernet that is going to need a number of years to be at its best.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Hideaway Vineyard (100% Cabernet) is deep garnet-purple colored and strides confidently out of the glass with confident blackcurrant cordial, warm blueberries and kirsch scents plus suggestions of dried herbs, pencil lead and cigar box. Medium-bodied, fresh and softly spoken in the mouth, it has lovely harmony and a minerally restraint to the finish.
