Tasting notes
The 1995 Lagrange was picked from 21 September until 5 October. This has quite a compact bouquet that needs aeration, eventually revealing attractive brambly red fruit mixed with sage and thyme, brown spices and sandalwood. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity and a rounded texture. The fruit seems to be finally drying out after 24 years, although there is commendable substance on the white pepper and clove infused finish. Enjoy this over the next four or five years. Tasted at the Lagrange vertical at the estate.

A classic wine to drink now. Plenty of dark berry and spice character. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a beautiful depth and intensity. Fresh earth and sweet tobacco aftertaste.
Dark ruby. Lots of minerals on the nose: damp gravel? Sweet start and pretty aggressive tannins. Very chewy finish. This demands time. (JR)
