Tasting notes
Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 22 months in French oak, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is stunning, world-class, heavenly juice. With a deep ruby/purple color and awesome notes of crème de cassis, black currant jam, graphite, white chocolate and loads of lead pencil-like nuances, this sensational Napa Cabernet is full-bodied, voluptuous, and seriously textured, yet also balanced, fresh, and age-worthy. Drink it over the coming 15-20 years. 279 cases. While the 2014s from this estate are beautiful across the board, the 2015s are a clear step up. Pulling from their 45-acre estate in Spring Mountain as well as sourcing fruit from Oakville and Yountville, Frias is making some of the most compelling wines in the valley. This is a bandwagon you don’t want to miss.

Aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant and hazelnut. Some lavender. Full body, layered and rich with lots of fruit and spice. Some chocolate, too. Needs a year or two to come together. Drink in 2019.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva emerges entirely from Spring Mountain and is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Gloriously opulent, voluptuously textured, with blackcurrants, blueberries and white flowers, this enormously charming wine has no hard edges and is a quintessential example of the best of the 2014 vintage – a concentrated, irresistible, in-your-face, front-end loaded wine that is complex already and gorgeously drinkable. The balance and depth suggest this wine will evolve for at least another 10-15 years as well.
