2014 Efeste Syrah Jolie Bouche

(from a 1994 planting with Phelps clones; made entirely in puncheons, one of six new, with 30% whole clusters, and aged on its lees until being bottled in March of 2016): Bright medium ruby. Very pure aromas of blackberry, minerals, licorice and violet complicated by hints of game and leather. Concentrated, energetic yet utterly seamless Syrah with a bit of varietal funk to its juicy dark fruit flavors. Lovely energy here. The sneaky rising finish shows very suave tannins.
