There are 26,000 bottles of the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape La Begude des Papes, a decent amount for a Châteauneuf of this quality. A blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 12% Mourvèdre and 3% Cinsault from the les Brusquières lieu-dit, aged in a variety of vessels, including 10% new barriques, it reveals remarkable purity of fruit, with notes of cherries, black cherries and blackberries. It's full-bodied and supple, rich and powerful, with a long, reasonably elegant finish.

The 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Bégude des Papes was briefly aged in a combination of demi-muids , new and old oak barriques and tronconique tanks. It displays aromas of cooked red and black fruits, cloves, wood smoke and a dash of cardamom. Checking in at 15.5% alcohol, this is a full-bodied and refined red, which is really well-balanced by lively acidity before closing with a savory finish. It should drink well over the next 15 years.

The 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape La Begude Des Papes is a classic blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 12% Mourvedre, and a splash of Cinsault. This charming, forward 2020 has lots of ripe red and black cherry fruit as well as notes of peppery garrigue, spice, and dried earth. It's balanced and offers ripe tannins as well as tons of character. It can be drunk any time over the coming decade or so.

60% Grenache Blanc, 30% Clairette, 10% Bourboulenc. Aged in concrete egg (40%), new oak (20%) and tank (40%). Fruity and floral with generous fruit on the palate. Juicy and round, the ripeness at perfect pitch. Zesty finish. Best drunk young to make the most of that fruit expression. (JL)
