Tasting notes
The 2022 Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard Block 5 is a medium red/ruby color and is expressive and well-detailed in the glass. Coming entirely from vines planted to the Dijon clone 777 and raised for 9 months in 38% new French oak, it opens with notes of rosy perfume, pure red cherries, iron-rich earth, cinnamon spices, and pine needles. Medium-bodied, it’s mouthwatering upfront, with vibrant, salty energy, finely coiled tannins, and a lovely finish. It’s going to improve with another year or two and is very impressive now. Drink 2025-2040. 200 cases were produced.

The 2022 Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard Block 5 is coy, rumbling up with a hint of lavender and violet pastille over the slightest tinge of wild strawberry. More lively within, it is lifted and finessed, with bright red berry fruit and a distinct mineral crunchiness. Blue and purple floral tones resonate as this finishes fresh and medium in length, inviting the taster to pour another glass.
