Black and green olives with walnut-shell and clove undertones. On the palate this is as velvety as it is concentrated, the ripeness easily carrying all the tannins, the finish very long, vibrant and mineral. Stunning already, but this has enormous aging potential. Drink or hold.

Complex notes of lavender, orange blossom, and sweet red and black fruits emerge from the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Steinhauer Ranch, which comes from the upper plateau on Howell Mountain and was brought up all in new French oak. It’s another powerful, mouthfilling mountain wine from this team and offers a full-bodied, rounded mouthfeel, ripe tannins, perfectly integrated oak, and a great finish. Drink it over the coming two decades.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Steinhauer Vineyard is a rich, enveloping wine. Dark fruit, herb, smoke, wild flowers and menthol all run through this deeply expressive, potent Cabernet Sauvignon. Still very much tightly wound, the Steinhauer is one of the more reticent wines in the range. Give it a few years in bottle to fully open up.

Composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 21 months in 100% new French oak, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Steinhauer Vineyard offers up notes of plum preserves, blueberry pie and cassis with touches of kirsch, crushed rocks, peppered meats and mossy bark. Full-bodied with a finely crafted frame of grainy tannins and plenty of juicy fruit, it finishes on a lingering earthy note. 468 cases produced.
