A blend of 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Sauvignon Blanc, the Cantina Terlano 2020 Alto Adige Terlano Riserva Nova Domus is another beautiful interpretation of a very special Alpine Italian wine territory. This hot-vintage blend reveals light spice, saffron, toasted cumin, apricot, baked apple and candied orange peel. It feels quite big and creamy in terms of mouthfeel, and ultimately it almost drinks like a red wine. There is a touch of sweet fruit that sets this bottle up to pair with a Moroccan chicken tagine marinated with preserved lemon. Some 33,000 bottles were made.

The 2020 Terlaner Riserva Nova Domus takes its time to come into focus, starting out smoky and mineral, like chipping away at a concrete wall. Swirling unlocks its hidden charms as sweet chamomile and mint give way to lime-laced apples and spice. It floods the palate with opulent, silken textures, seeming almost weighty yet balanced by a jolt of mineral-tinged acidity as young peach and nectarine notes resonate. The 2020 tapers off on a spicy, practically salty note, a bit shorter than anticipated yet also remarkably fresh.
