Score 95/100 · Drink 2026-2055, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, May 2019

Once again, there are two barrels of the 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques Vieilles Vignes, a superb wine that nips at the heels of Duroché's Clos de Bèze. Unfurling in the glass with notions of cassis, dark berries, plums, grilled meat, truffles, rose petal and licorice, the wine is full-bodied, multidimensional and layered, with excellent depth and concentration at the core, fine-grained tannins and tangy acids. To my palate, this is emerging as the domaine's truly emblematic cuvée, and it is well worth seeking out.

About the producer

Duroche - Producer
Domaine Duroche

Domaine Duroché has, under Pierre Duroché, become one of the most sought-out and respected wine domaines in Gevrey-Chambertin. The wines are delicate and detailed, yet with old-vine intensity, a clear sense of place and style – and it’s easy to see why they’ve rapidly become so in-demand.
