Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Thorey has a slightly disjointed nose compared to its peers. I discerned more extraction here, more introspective and sultry fruit. There was some suggestion of TCA though I did not pick it up myself. The palate is sweet on the entry with supple black plum, spice and sea salt notes. This has good density although it feels a little pinched towards the finish. I will seek to re-taste this because I feel the bottle was not firing on all cylinders. Tasted September 2016.

Healthy dark red. Fresher on the nose than the Allots, offering attractive violet lift to the aromas of black raspberry and licorice. Juicy and precise in the mouth, displaying intense flavors of black cherry, blackberry and licorice. Finishes firmly tannic but not dry, leaving behind a scent of violet.
