Tasting notes
Smelling this is like gazing out over a vast rocky panorama! Lovely lemon-curd and yellow-peach aromas, but also a slew of wild herbs. Astonishing richness for just 12.5% alcohol and chalky minerality that builds and builds on the spectacular finish. Doesnât want to stop, either! From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Enticing, captivating, and shockingly approachable. Stony, smoky reductive aromas, plenty of grapefruit. With verve and sass the palate springs to life. Hints of baked apples and lemons, some Turkish delight, hazelnut and a touch of 'speck' (baby fat). The initial dried-pear element opened into pure juicy, sunshine momentum given a few days' time. Extremely expressive, racy and frustratingly impulsive. Easily the most mineral-driven of the Uhlen triptych. (PS)
Intensely yellow in color, the 2020 Uhlen Laubach GG is deep and rich on the nose that reveals ripe and slatey Riesling fruit with a fine yeasty layer. On the palate, the wine is rich, round and elegant and quite baroque this year, but it is still refined and stimulatingly salty on the finish. More charming this year than in the years before, which I prefer, to be honest. Tasted as a sample in Wiesbaden in August 2021.
