Score 84-86/100 · Drink 2023-2028, Neal Martin, Jan 2023
The 2021 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 1er Cru, containing 20% whole bunches, has a light, slightly stemmy bouquet with tea leaf infused, open-knit red fruit. The palate is well balanced though not complex, perhaps just missing a bit of definition and focus on the finish. Early drinking.

Domaine-owned vines; clay over limestone at the bottom of the slope. 50% 85-year-old vines, 50% ‘old vines’. 20% whole cluster, 20% new oak. Cask sample. Pale ruby. Red cherries, strawberries and redcurrants. Complex with mushroom and a little wet earth. Good concentration; fresh acidity and ripe tannins with some grip. Great balance, weight and volume. (MH)
