Fine, tangy and super dry. Subtle and sustained. Not especially intense but it has lovely balance and purity and good length. (JH)

The 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume comes from 62-year-old vines and sees 20% of the crop aged in wooden barrels, the remainder in stainless steel for a duration of 10 months. It has a Zen-like nose, minimalist Chablis but with attractive, cold, stony/flinty scents emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, nicely poised with a brisk saline seam that drives the finish. It begs another sip as soon as the last is gone, always the sign of a fine wine. This is a well-crafted, traditional Chablis.
