Score 96/100 · Drink 2026-2046, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2025

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Tchelistcheff Clone 412 comes from the Mach One Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills. It demands plenty of air to reveal expressive, detailed scents of blueberry, black licorice, salumi, candied violet and graphite. The full-bodied palate is opulent and concentrated without going over the top in terms of ripeness or extraction. Its powerful flavors are framed by plush, powdery tannins and fireworks of fresh acidity, and it has a long, graphite-laced finish. It should be long lived in the cellar. 300 cases were made.

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Tchelistcheff is 100% from Clone 412 Cabernet grown at Mach One Vineyard, and it ups the ante on uniqueness in its slatey, herbal, high-toned character, deeply savory and distinct. Black fruit, black tea, and a highly umami quality make it memorable and amazing, completely compelling in its full-bodied power and grace, with only 300 cases made. Get your hands on it if you can and cellar through 2042.

Distinctly savory, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Tchelistcheff lifts up with a spice box bouquet: cloves and dried herbs give way to spiced citrus peels, dark chocolate and black cherries. Velvety in texture yet energetic and spry, this opens with a tinge of chalky minerality, paving the way for waves of liquid violet florals and tart black fruits that ride a stream of brisk acidity. The 2022 leaves the palate drenched in primary concentration, showing amazing depth and complexity, yet still holding its power in reserve as a coating of fine tannins resonates. This is a Barolo lover’s Cabernet Sauvignon.
