Score 91/100 · Drink 2026-2040, Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, Jan 2024
The 2019 Saumur Champigny is a ripe style showing the dry season yet retaining plentiful freshness. This is the result of very low yields, which are the combination of early budbreak and frost, followed up by drought. High skin to juice ratio led to a rather drying tannin, lending some hard grip to the long, scented finish.

Clos Rougeard
Clos Rougeard is one of the Loire Valley’s most famous producers. Based in Saumur-Champigny, it produces fine Cabernet Franc in tiny volumes – wines that are almost impossible to source.
