Sea breeze, crushed stone, and oily, smoky notes in the nose put me unexpectedly in mind of Chablis. There are also aromatic hints of flowers as well as of the fresh apple and white peach that subsequently dominate the show. As with a number of Prinz’s dry wines of the vintage, this is surprisingly caressing and silken in feel, its acids well-hidden. Luscious fruit and billowing floral perfume linger delightfully, though beyond a mere stony tingle, it would be nice to experience a reprise of some savory or intriguing mineral elements such as were so strikingly suggested in the nose – and perhaps that will happen after the wine has had more time in bottle.
