Score 87/100 · Drink 2023-2028, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Mar 2023

Peju's 2019 Merlot features attractive notes of ripe black cherries, pipe tobacco and cedar. It's medium to full-bodied, open-knit and seemingly destined for early consumption, but then it turns a bit coarse and roughly tannic on the finish. I'd still drink it young, just pair it with rare beef or lamb to help tame the tannins.

The 2019 Merlot has plenty of richness and depth, with classic Merlot cherry fruits as well as hints of truffle, chocolate, and dried herbs. Ripe, medium-bodied, and balanced, drink this outstanding Merlot over the coming 7-8 years.

Aromas of red licorice, black cherries and forest herbs. Full-bodied with chewy tannins. Dark and brooding on the palate, with steady balance and a hint of cedar poking through at the finish. Drink now.
