Tasting notes
The 2001 Vacqueyras Les Genestes is a gorgeous blend of 52% Grenache and 48% Syrah. A deep ruby/purple color is followed by a heady perfume of raspberry jam, black cherries, spice box, licorice, and incense. This full-bodied, pure, lusty yet complex 2001 combines power with elegance. Good underlying vibrant acidity provides additional fragrance. The finish lasts for 30+ seconds. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083

(nearly half syrah) Red-ruby. Superripe, slightly medicinal aromas of black cherry and licorice. Dense, sweet and deep, with intense, youthful flavors of black fruits, cherry pit, bitter chocolate and licorice. Very structured, firmly tannic Vacqueyras with the potential to develop in bottle.
Full red-ruby. Captivating aromas of bitter cherry, smoked meat, mint, chocolate and flowers. Juicy and bright but supple, with lovely intensity and definition of flavor. Bright note of licorice. Finishes with fine tannins and excellent length. Rather classy Vacqueyras with a high 48% syrah component.
