Score 85/100 · Drink 2013-2017, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Oct 2013

Looking at the current vintage and the only 2011 presented, the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape is a mostly concrete-aged blend of 90% Grenache, 5% Mourvedre and 5% Syrah. Medium-bodied and straightforward, with plenty of dusty earth, spice, garrigue and light cherry fruit, it’s a quaffable effort geared for near-term drinking. Drink now-2017. This large co-op produces a bevy of well made, delicious efforts that are geared for near-term drinking. Importer: USA Wine Import, New York, NY; tel. (212) 941-7133

Bright ruby-red. Aromas of black raspberry and cherry are complicated by exotic spices and notes of bitter chocolate and lavender. Plump and velvety in texture, with jammy dark fruit and good focus. Closes with lingering warmth and gentle, harmonious tannins.

90% Grenache, 5% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre. Mid ruby with some evolution. Rather floral and opulent on the nose. Smooth and ripe and round. Very very early maturing. But perhaps the right decisions were made? It’s certainly a pleasingly playful red which actually builds on the finish. (JR)

The 2011 Cellier des Princes Châteauneuf-du-Pape is an elegant, medium-bodied effort revealing sweet kirsch and strawberry styled fruit aromas to go with notions of garrigue, pepper, and hints of flowers. Open knit and already complex, with a soft supple feel, this well-done 2011 will shine on release, and over the following 5-8 years.
