Tasting notes
Even better, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Field Select is a selection of clone 6 Cabernet Sauvignon blended with 12% Petit Verdot, all from the Lewelling Ranch Vineyard and aged 20 months in new French oak. It’s a blockbuster that still shows the elegance and finesse that are common from this site. Notes of crème de cassis, graphite, blueberries, and a vibrant floral character all develop with time in the glass, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, perfect balance, silky tannins, and a great, great finish. It’s another thrilling wine from Haley Wight that can be drunk today or cellared for two decades or more.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Field Select is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Petit Verdot aged 20 months in 90% new French oak. It has a very deep garnet-purple color and reveals beautiful cassis, baked blueberries and black cherry compote notes with touches of dried herbs, wood smoke, cardamom, underbrush and baking spices. Full, firm, spicy and decadent in the mouth, it has a rock-solid structure of grainy tannins and bold freshness lifting the cedar-laced finish. 75 cases produced, to be released in the spring of 2019.
