Brilliant violet. Racy red/blue fruit scents, along with hints of pungent flowers and white pepper. Shows good energy for the year, offering bitter cherry and boysenberry flavors and a touch of gaminess. Finishes on a faintly smoky note, with good length and a hint of bacon.

The 2017 Beaujolais is a beauty, bursting from the glass with an expressive bouquet of raspberries, strawberries, rose petals, peonies and cinnamon. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, supple and sapid, with a succulent core of fruit, mouthwatering acids and melting but powdery tannins. Utterly delicious, it's already impossible to resist, though it should hold for the better part of a decade in a cold cellar.
