Tasting notes
The 2022 Vintage Port has a smoky note of coal together with the more classical blackberry and licorice and is ripe and heady. It was produced with a blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa and Sousão. It has 19.5% alcohol, with a pH of 3.64, 4.4 grams of acidity and a relatively low quantity of sugar, 87 grams. It's not too concentrated and reveals intense herbal flavors, pungent and with a bitter twist in the finish and some heat. It was bottled unoaked to keep the primary aromas and flavors. 6,000 bottles were filled in May 2024.

The 2022 Vintage Port from Quinta do Romaneira comes from bunches trodden by foot in lagares. Powerful and lascivious on the nose, it explodes with copious kirsch, Seville oranges and sloes, the latter becoming prominent with aeration. Fine delineation and, later, Montecristo cigar scents join the chorus line. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth entry, assiduously spiced with white pepper, clove and hints of marjoram towards the extended finish. Wonderful.
