Score 87-90/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2004
Medium red-ruby. Aromas of blackberry, currant, smoke and earth. Sweet, supple and minerally, with fruit currently in the background. Less harmonious and more tannic today than the Rugiens, and still a bit dried by the racking just prior to the 2003 harvest. But this has shape and grip.
