Score 92-94/100 · Drink 2002-2010, Pierre Rovani, Oct 1999

A dark, verging on black-colored 1997 Corton Le Rognet reveals roasted, stone, earth, licorice, blackberry, and road tar aromas. Super-ripe, yet not over-ripe like the Clos Vougeot, it saturates the palate with its powerful, dark flavors. This massive Pinot Noir nectar is full-bodied, oily-textured, and possesses immensely sweet and ripe tannins. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2010. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel (202) 832-9083.
