The 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre comes from 55-year-old vines and sees 20% matured in oak barrel. It was a little subdued on the nose, pretty, albeit lacking some chutzpah. The palate is better with crisp acidity, attractive mango and fresh pineapple notes offset by fine tension on the lively finish. Not a complex Chablis, but it conveys a sense of joie-de-vivre.
