Score 95/100 · Drink 2026-2036, Matthew Luczy, Wine Advocate, Oct 2025
A blend of 48% Mourvèdre, 44% Syrah and 8% Grenache that fermented in concrete and matured in neutral and once-used puncheons, the 2023 Altas Viñas jumps out at me in the McPrice Myers lineup for its combination of punch, saturation and purity. A deep, opaque color in the glass, it has a complex and compelling nose that melds smoldering spice notes with lifted, purple-flower perfume and a brooding core of dark fruits. The palate is dense yet delicate, combining a burly yet impressively refined and composed character as it transitions into an intense and savory finish that lingers with rich, umami-driven flavors and lifted iodine notes.
