Tasting notes
The 2021 Ovitelli Blanc is a bend of 73% Grenache Blanc and 27% Roussanne. The wine is made with a variety of techniques and vessels, all playing into the final piece. It saw skin contact (43% of the final blend spent up to 121 days on skins), ceramic eggs, handpicking across different dates and abstemious application of sulfur. All in all, the wine is floral, complex and textural. Above all else, there is a profusion of grippy, shapely tannins. For all the spice and texture, the wine is svelte and feels built to age. There is also white pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, apple skins, roasted orange peel, flowers, crushed rocks and white tea. Lovely lovely. It's got some muscle too. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

The aromas of honeydew melon and lemons are beautiful here, with a touch of floral from lilacs. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and a complex salty, white pepper and green mango after taste. Bitter lemon, too. Made in ceramic vessels. No wood. 73% grenache blanc and 27% roussane. Drink now. Screw cap.
