Very pale orange-pink. Heady, mineral-tinged red berry, tangerine and floral scents show excellent clarity and a spicy topnote. Tangy and sharply focused on the palate, offering fresh strawberry and orange zest flavors and a hint of white pepper. Lithe and weightless wine with excellent finishing cut and floral persistence. The white and red grapes here are co-fermented in used French oak barrels, where the wine then ages for a year before being bottled.

The 2013 Pícaro Clarete is clearly not a rosé (but it's pink-colored); it's a wine produced with a blend of red and white grapes, and aged in barrel for some 16 months following the profile of the traditional wines of Aranda de Duero from yesteryear. Even if it's hard to believe, this wine is still too young; I had the chance to taste the 2012 and it now smells and tastes like a white wine (I showed it blind to a friend and he said it was a white), with incredible minerality. It still has some red fruit in the nose and it will develop greatly in bottle, and show its minerality that for now is only perceivable on the palate, where the acidity is lively and the finish is so tasty it turns almost salty. In the long run, this might surpass the 2012, but to drink today, I prefer the 2012. 5,000 were filled in May 2015.
