Tasting notes
Good medium red. Very ripe aromas of plum, mocha, tobacco and marzipan. Fairly plush and sweet, with a pliant, rich texture given shape by nicely integrated acidity. The dark cherry, menthol and licorice flavors give the finish a youthfully medicinal quality but this distinctly full-bodied wine boasts enticing early sweetness. The label says 15% alcohol.

The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino is a big wine loaded with black cherries, plums, violets, tar and licorice, all of which come together in a rich, boisterous style that is quite appealing. Sweet floral notes are woven throughout, giving the wine a sense of lift and freshness on the finish.

Deep ruby with lighter rim just beginning to open up. Quite pretty, sweet nose, but a tad too sweet for comfort on the finish. (WS)
