(bottled last October; no new oak): Exotic aromas of apricot and honeycomb. Fat and glyceral, conveying an impression of sucrosité for a wine with just 12.5% alcohol. The honeyed quality carries through onto the palate, which could use a bit more cut and energy. Javillier noted that all of these 2013s finished with less than 1.5 g/l of residual sugar.

The 2013 Meursault Clos du Cromin, which sees no new wood, has an attractive custard crème and lemon-curd-scented bouquet, perhaps more modern in style than others, but delineated and focused. The palate is beautifully poised with orange zest and a light touch of peach. There is fine tension here, good weight with plenty of spice on the finish that lends it persistence in the mouth. This is a very capable Meursault in the making, although the Tête de Murger has the complexity.

Exotic peach and spices on the nose; smells like some new oak but no new barrels were used. Sweet, ripe and densely packed, offering spicy yellow fruit and apple flavors complicated by a hint of exotic passion fruit. A bit youthfully aggressive today (this only recently finished its malo) but should be a very popular style. (The Bourgogne Blanc Cuvee Oligocene showed lovely Chablis-like lift to its musky aromas of peach, apple, quinine, ginger and crushed stone; a lightly peppery but rich mid-palate; and a bracing, gripping finish featuring lemon and stone notes. This very promising sample rated 87-89.)
