Tasting notes
The 2015 Macon Uchizy les Maranches has a clean and precise bouquet, quite chalky and well defined, a more neutral take on Mâcon that expresses more of the terroir rather than fruit. The palate is fresh on the entry with crisp acidity, not quite as detailed as I was expecting after the aromatics but with satisfying weight on the spicy, quite sappy finish.

15,000 bottles. Both young and old vines. Old vine had lots of the Muscat clone so since 2010 he's put half the young vines in it and now the Muscat character is suppressed by the younger vines of 15 years. So it's more refined. Rather low key nose somewhat dominated by the Meursault cellar smells. Well behaved. (JR)
(from a blend of old and young vines in a very warm spot--always with the lowest acidity in the cellar, according to Gon, who noted that the young vines bring needed freshness): Pure Chardonnay stone fruit aromas show an exotic, candied aspect. Then surprisingly juicy and energetic, even youthfully bound-up, with a fresh apricot flavor dominating in the early going. A bit simple today, and slightly phenolic on the back end. The nose is very ripe but the palate suggests early picking.
