Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a light butterscotch and praline-scented bouquet that is pretty, if missing a little breeding. The palate is balanced with a citrus lemon opening. There is just a pinch of spice here with good acidity and depth, a well-made Corton-Charlemagne that should age nicely over the next decade. Tasted May 2016.

Rather appealing slightly smoky nose with salty notes. Medium weight. Completely correct and rather nicely crystalline but without the impact of a great Corton-Charlemagne. Nothing otherwise wrong with it. (JR)
