Very kindly brought to dinner by Tor Kenward in honour of my anniversaries. Bottled July 1979. Deep glowing crimson. Initially this needed a little aeration but it was rapidly transformed into a completely delicious red wine with grace, amazing freshness and sweet, layered Cabernet fruit. Beautifully balanced. Proof of Napa Valley’s ability to produce top-class wine. Better than any left-bank 1975 bordeaux I have encountered. (JR)

The 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard is quite pretty and powerful, but also a bit forward, while the 1975 impresses for its pure depth and richness, both remarkable for a wine that is nearly 40 years old!
