Score 88/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2006
Bright ruby-red. Roasted dark fruits and chocolatey oak on the nose. Round, lush and easygoing, with sweetly oaky flavors of currant, cola, mocha and vanilla. Fatter than the Mountain Cuvee but also a bit warmer on the end. Finishes with soft, dusty tannins that grew with aeration. Also tasted: 2003 Merlot Napa Valley.
