1988 Hermitage

While promising, the 1988 is closed, tannic, and hard. The wine does exhibit an attractively ripe nose with scents of new oak and cassis. In the mouth, the wine is rich, but the tannins have the upper hand at the moment, and the finish displays abundant power but also elevated tannins. Anticipated maturity: 1999-2010. Last tasted 6/95.
