Score 88/100 · Drink 2023-2033, Neal Martin, Dec 2023
The 1960 Rieussec is a vintage that I must have tasted some 15 years ago. This proves how Sauternes can transcend a tricky growing season. It shows a lovely nose with an unavoidable adhesive scent, not unattractive either, with frangipane and toffee apple scents. Loose-knit but clean. The palate is medium-bodied, pure and harmonious. There are no signs of rot, with pleasing viscosity and a tang of ginger toward the finish. Absolutely fine. Tasted at Medlar restaurant to celebrate my The Complete Bordeaux Vintage Guide book.
