Score 92-95/100 · Drink 2014-2030, Pierre Rovani, Aug 2005

Produced from a 0.4067 hectare (1 acre) parcel located in the highest part of its grand cru, next to Domaine Meo-Camuzet’s, the 2003 Echezeaux comes from 43 and 14-year old vines. Harvested at 15% natural potential alcohol, it explodes from the glass with black fruits and myriad spices. A backward, massively concentrated wine, it is hugely powerful, chewy, and dense. This muscular, deep, medium to full bodied offering’s firm, almost rustic, structure demands patience. Projected maturity: 2014-2030+. Importer: A Peter Vezan Selection, Paris fax #011-33-1-42-55-42-93

Extremely deep colour. Round, sweet, chewy. Just a bit too extracted to be fun to drink. (JR)
