Score 92/100 · Drink 2007-2027, Robert Parker, Dec 2007

The deep ruby/purple-colored 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Wild Iris possesses notes of black currants, sweet cherries, flowers, cedar, and fruitcake-like spices. With sweet tannin, a long, flowing mouthfeel, and excellent length, it should drink well for 15-20 years. This joint project of Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts is a tiny boutique operation focusing on fewer than 1,000 cases of wine. Trivia buffs will be interested to learn that the beautiful label of California Fuchsia was painted by Margaret Biever-Mondavi, Nathan Lee Roberts’ grandmother. Tel. Saturated ruby. Bitter cherry, cassis and blackberry aromas are pure and expansive. Intense, spicy and sweet, with deep dark fruit flavors, supple tannins and gentle acidity. Really explodes on the finish, displaying a powerful but elegant blackcurrant tone and outstanding length.
